Red-figure squat lekythos decorated with a maenad in front of an altar. She holds the thyrsus and a phiale from which she is pouring some liquid rendered in applied red. The woman is clad a finely pleated chiton and a himation. Attributed by John D. Beazley to the Bowdoin Painter. Published with John D. Beazley. Paralipomena. Oxford 1971: 407.229BIS. Beazley Archive vase no. 275825.

Ceramic. H. 4.7 inches. Fine condition. Handle reattached. Embellished in the fashion of the 1950/60s: Minor pitting of the black glaze retouched and peeled off area to the right of the altar lacquered. Tiny chip out of the ring foot restored. Provenance: Basel Market, Münzen und Medaillen AG, prior to 1970; Private collection, Basel.
